During Code Dojo, we will pair the classroom with a student from USC who is studying computer science or a related field. The USC student will take questions from students in the class during a 30 minute video call and will share with the students their own experiences in computer science.
During Code Dojo 2017, we were able to host video calls with 15 different, had an in-person coding workshop for students at St. Mary's Academy and Girls Academic Leadership Academy, and was joined by two special guests, Joyce Edson, Deputy Chief Information Officer and Assistant General Manager of the City of Los Angeles, and Uday Ghatikar, Customer Engineer at Google.
Not at all! Code Dojo is our virtual outreach program. The Q&A sessions are held virtually to enable more schools to participate.
Please check back in September 2018. We will have updated information on how you can participate.
We will start looking for Code Dojo 2018 volunteers in the middle of the Fall 2018 semester, so keep a look out on your email and on this page for updates during that time.
We are always looking for volunteers to support us in our many different STEM outreach events throughout the year. Please contact vast@usc.edu if you are interested in volunteering for our other events.
There are tons of programs for students to participate in after Code Dojo if they want to further dive into the world of computer science. Look below for more information.
