Research Lab #2: Distributed Systems Research
PI: Prof. Leana Golubchik (Computer Science and Electrical Engineering-Systems)
Lab Overview:
This lab is focused on computer systems modeling and performance evaluation, with applications in distributed systems, including: (a) quality-of-service-based design of large-scale multimedia storage systems, (b) design and evaluation of large-scale peer-to-peer and overlay systems, (c) reliability evaluation of software systems, and (d) wireless sensor systems. Current research directions are also largely focused on design and evaluation of large-scale data centers.
ACCESS 4Teachers-RET Project #2:
Given this lab's background in both analysis and design of systems, that knowledge will be used in the introduction of CS and CT to middle school students, with the eventual goal of it being taught along side other subject areas. Teachers will help to design an on-line course that other teachers, parents, and students can use to learn about CS and CT. The teachers will:
• gain first hand knowledge and experience with software architectures,
• study anomaly detection, and
• recognize that fundamental research in p2p systems may benefit engineering research and society.
