Summary and Explanation of Civil Engineering.

Civil Engineering is based on community service and the development and improvement of facilities necessary for modern life. These facilities may include structures like satellites, transit systems, roads, and bridges. They deal with problems such as the challenges of pollution, traffic congestion, drinking water and energy needs, urban redevelopment, and community planning. Civil Engineering is divided into seven different sects, some of which include: Geotechnical, Water Resources, Construction, and Urban Planning. The average civil engineer earns approximately $74,600 annually, holding 278,400 jobs out of 1.6 million engineering jobs in the U.S., representing the largest sector of all engineers working in the U.S.

Summary and Explanation of Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering is based on the research, development, and design of engines, machines, and many other mechanical devices. These devices may include electric generators, steam turbines, air-conditioning equipment, elevators, and robots used in manufacturing. These engineers design tools that aid other engineers in their work. This discipline is one of the broadest in engineering, with work ranging from agriculture to technical sales. The main focus of mechanical engineers is to make a contribution to improving the quality of life of those that make use of their products. The average mechanical engineer makes about $74,920 a year. Mechanical engineers hold nearly 240,000 jobs of those in the U.S.

Summary and Explanation of Industrial Engineering

Industrial Engineering is based on the optimization of complex processes or systems. It is concerned with the development, improvement, implementation, and evaluation of systems of people, money, knowledge, information, equipment, energy, materials, analysis, and synthesis. Modern industrial engineers use computer simulation and extensive matematical tools to aid their work in system analysis, evaluation, and optimization. The average industrial engineer makes about $68,620 a year. They make up slightly over 13% of the engineering jobs in the U.S., about 201,000 jobs.

Photos of Our Project in Development

One of the models of our original bridge design. We were unable to recreate the cubes around our bridge, despite our efforts to implement them into our structure.

Here is another picture of one of our original bridge designs. We failed to implement this design in our final product as well.

The underside of our bridge, where you can notice the various intricate support beams that helped to stabilize our bridge.

A side view of our bride holding nine bricks plus our car on the weakest point of our bridge. Pretty impressive!
