1. Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works like roads, bridges, canals, dams, and buildings.  In this project, we used civil engineering concepts to design and construct a balsa wood bridge spanning four feet, capabale of holding a small VEX car and three bricks.

Mechanical engineering is the branch of engineering dealing with the design, construction, and use of machines.  This applied to our project through the creation of a VEX car, capable of carrying three bricks and turning in a limited area.

Industrial engineering deals with the design, improvement, and installation of integrated systems (as of people, materials, and energy) in industry.  We used these concepts to create the balsa wood bridge so it would be strong enough to hold the weight of the VEX car and withstand the turning motions that the car applied to the road surface.
