2021 Energy of STEM Summer Camps - Apply now!

Energy of STEM is returning in virtual format this year! During the virtual camps, students will have the opportunity to explore concepts around Green Energy (elementary) and Electronics (high school). The camps will include demonstrations and lessons, hands-on projects and group-work, and time for connecting and sharing with peers in a fun, engaging environment. Activities will be led by USC Viterbi Center staff and USC students​.

There will be three Energy of STEM tracks offered this summer:

  • ​Early elementary track (grades 1-2; max 15 students) - July 19th-July 23rd, 2021, from 9:00am-12:00pm PST; virtual format
  • Upper elementary track (grades 3-5; max 18 students) - July 26th-July 30th, 2021, from 9:00am-1:30pm PST; virtual format
  • High school track (grades 9-12; max 20 students) - July 19th-July 30th, 2021; virtual format

Due to the high volume of applications we receive, you will only be contacted if your student is selected for the program. We apologize that we cannot respond to all applications.

Application details:

Extended Deadline: May 31st

The two parts of the application must be received by May 31st, 2021. Incomplete applications will NOT be considered. It is the responsibility of the student/parent to ensure that all application materials are received by the deadline.

Cost: Free

Dates and Times: 

Early elementary: July 19-July 23, 2021, from 9:00am-12:00pm PST

Upper elementary: July 26-July 30, 2021, from 9:00am-1:00pm PST

High school: July 19-July 30, 2021, from 9:00am-3:00pm PST

Applications due May 31 


  • Submit a complete application (confirm with your teacher that they have submitted their recommendation form for you).​
  • Will be in 1st-5th grade or 9th-12th grade in the fall of 2021.
  • Able to attend all camp days.
  • Has access to the internet.
  • Priority is given to historically underrepresented students in STEM, but this is not a requirement and we encourage all students to apply.
  • Students in the 1st-2nd grade camp may require some minor adult support/guidance.
