Teacher Selection

As an NSF Research Experience for Teachers site, USC Viterbi is committed to partnering with inner city schools and other high needs schools. Since even before the first SRET project in 2011, we have partnered with middle school STEM teachers from Los Angeles area schools, which primarily serve disadvantaged and minority students. Each year, between 10-13 teachers are placed, based on their interest, in a USC Viterbi School of Engineering research laboratory, building sustainable RET teams by recruiting between two - four teachers from any one school.
